Human beings as we are love the idea of self improvement. It was that time of the year(New Year) when we all made resolutions for our life, especially one pertaining to our health.
I know many of us who are health conscious or realised that we are having an unusual weight gain resolved to lose weight, exercise regularly and also eat healthfully.
This is a good inclusion to make in your New Year resolution list aside goals for our career, spiritual and social life.We are in the 69th day of the year and in no time we would exhaust the first quarter of the year.
How far have you gone in achieving the health and fitness goals you set for yourself this year?
Do you feel like giving up on your gym sessions, relapsing to the habit of late night eating, eating those fat burgers or the finger licking ice creams.
Don’t give up when you fail to see the immediate results , you would make headway .
5 REASONS WHY PEOPLE DON’T REACH THEIR HEALTH AND FIT GOALS
1. LESS SPECIFIC AND UNDEFINED HEALTH GOALS.
The more specific and clearly defined your health and fitness goals, the more likely you would be able to achieve them.Eg.Weight loss of 2kg in a month or exercising 30 minutes 3 days in a week.
2. SETTING TOO MANY GOALS ,LESS FOCUS.
It’s good to be ambitious, however we need to best realistic in our goal settting.
How many goals can you really focus on?
Choose the health and fitness goal that is of priority and don’t introduce another until you’ve achieved the one at hand.
3.SETTING HEALTH AND FITNESS GOALS INCOMPATIBLE TO YOUR LIFE.
Be realistic about your health and fitness goals. If your work life is complicated and time consuming, hitting the gym every morning would not be feasible. You can’t quit smoking if you are still in the company of smokers.Gradually increase your workout time as you get time on your side or gradually give yourself some allowance.
Change is a process not an event!!!!
Without accountability, health and fitness goals would be difficult to achieve.Tell family and friends about your health and fitness goals,so that they can serve as a check on you.You also need to take responsibility for yourself,it’s for your own good.
Keep a journal and document your progress.Observing a gradual improvement will keep you motivated in achieving your goals.
5.REFUSAL TO SET DEADLINE.
Deadlines provide a sense of purpose and direction.A goal with a deadline keeps you focused.
Reward yourself when you finally achieve your health goals.
